Animatic/Storyboard

This is a video clip off the storyboard I produced representing my film; Trespass. This animatic shows the type of editing I am planning on using as well as some of the cinematography. Not all of the stylistics I am planning on using are represented through this animatic as the drawings do not exactly match the final production I am planning on achieving. Aspects of the mis-en-scene I am going to use are portrayed within this video clip but there is no sound at all as I could not put the sound over this particular footage. But, here is a rough idea of what my final film sequence will look like.

Shooting/Editing Log

During the filming and editing process I made a log of what I filmed on what day and  what time. This is to show organisation as it helped me know what I had already filmed and what I had left to film.

    END OF SCENE
    Health and Safety

When filming my short film sequence there will be potential risks which I need to be aware of prior to the filming process beginning.

    RISK
    DAMAGE
    AVOID
Forward tracking shot down the stairs, backward tracking shot up the stairs
When I am travelling up and down the stairs to create these shots I need to ensure I do not fall down the stairs
To prevent this I will be very cautious with my footing when carrying out this shot. Also, I will make sure I am the only one filming therefore I am the only person that could be in danger
      Table
A high angle shot of my character playing with a doll's house requires me to stand on a table to get the shot correctly therefore I need to ensure I do not fall off the table. If this does occur I could fall on the actress and harm her as well as myself
To prevent this I will be careful with where I place my feet and ask another member of my production team to hold the table still whilst I film the relative shot
Outside shot of my character playing on a slide
This could be hazardous as the weather may be cold which may create ice on the ground therefore myself or the actress could slip over causing ourselves injury and breaking the filming equipment
To prevent this I will ensure we are filming not near icy parts of the ground, trying to avoid them throughout the process of filming outside
    Filming Equipment
Those who were not involved in my filming process could fall over the filming equipment when it is placed in a secluded area of the house for example, the hallway
To prevent this I need to inform everyone in the house when filming where the camera is at all times so they do not trip over it
    Children's Toys
I need to ensure people do not trip over these props
To prevent this I will be making people aware where the props are placed and telling them to be careful when near them so they do not fall over them resulting in harming themselves. I also need to ensure I do not fall over the props either by making sure I am aware where they are placed for each different scene
    Small Tri-Pod
I need to ensure the camera and tri-pod, when in position, do not fall off the table
To prevent this from happening I need to ensure the camera and the tri-pod are placed in a stable position on the table ensuring they are unable to fall off, which could cause the equipment to break and if it were to fall on someone it could harm them

    Final Music

Creepy Music Box: I have decided to use this music within part of my film sequence. This piece of music builds tension throughout, similar to my film sequence, therefore using this music reinforces the tension building I am trying to create through the use of film language.

Rock-A-Bye-Baby: As my film sequence focuses upon a young child I believe using a nursery rhyme at the beginning of my film sequence will emphasise this aspect of my film. Furthermore, as this version of a nursery rhyme is 'creepy', it emphasises the genre of my film sequence which is horror.

Haunted Sky: I have decided to use this music throughout my film sequence as the ambient sound creates tension which is the aim of my film sequence.

    Production Update

    • 03/02/2012 - Today I am going to start the filming process of my short film sequence.
    Music Considerations

Linkin Park - Crawling (Re-animation Version): As this song has a distorted tune, I am contemplating using it throughout parts of my film sequence as parts of the sequence are distorted therefore this song fits in with the theme of my film sequence.

Rock-A-Bye-Baby: As my film sequence is mainly about a young girl portraying a ghost, I am considering using this nursery rhyme at the beginning of the film sequence. The use of a nursery rhyme enhances the child-like image I am trying to portray throughout my film sequence. Also, as this nursery rhyme is 'creepy', it fits in with the genre of my film sequence.

Creepy Music Box: Like my film sequence, this song becomes more intense as it progresses. Due to this factor, I am contemplating using it throughout parts of my film sequence to enchance the idea of building tension for the audience.

Haunted Sky: I am considering using this ambient sound throughout parts of my film sequence as it is creepy, therefore enhancing the affect I am trying to create throughout my film sequence. As well as this, this piece of music builds tension throughout which is also an affect I am trying to portray within my film sequence.
    Location

The entirety of my film is located within a house in Welton (20 Holly Hill). The reason for this location choice is because it is accessible and is the home of my main charcter therefore it is convenient.

This is the house which is the location for my entire film sequence.
It is a three bedroom house in Welton and is the home to the two
characters that will be starring in my film sequence, therefore it is a
    convenient location for my film.

Living Room: this particular location will be the main location used
throughout filming. All the mis-en-scene within this location is
child related therefore enhancing the ghost child aspect my film
sequence will behold. The reason I have chosen this location is
because of the mis-en-scene it contains therefore it is a very fitting
setting for my short film sequence.

Living Room: this location will be also shown in colour
within my film sequence as well as black and white
therefore giving a different perception of
    the same location.
Hallway/Stairs: this location will be shown multiple
times throughout my film sequence portraying
different things. Sophia Dash will be shown on
the stairs many times as well as a ball bouncing
down the stairs. The reason I have chosen to
use this location is because of the handprints
which can be seen on the walls as I believe this
adds a haunting effect which is what my film sequence
    represents.
Garden: this location is used to portray a happier side to my
antagonist. It will be shown in colour to enhance the idea
of happiness of Sophia Dash. The reason I chose this location
is because it contains children's play area equipment which
enables my actress to play around like young children do.
Therefore, adding realism to my short film sequence.

    Wednesday 31 October 2012

    Costumes

Throughout my film sequence, the main character portrayed wears two outfits. One of which is supposed to represent her as a ghost and the other as a happy little girl.

This is the dress 'Sophia Dash' will be wearing when she
is a ghost. I chose this dress because it is simple and plain,
    therefore not complicating her character.

This dress will be worn by 'Sophia Dash' when she
is portraying herself as a happy, little girl playing.
I chose this dress because it is a variety of bright
colours, much like childrens clothes are, therefore
portraying happiness through these bright colours.

    Props

Clock: This clock will feature in my film for approximately 10 seconds and the ticking of the clock will be emphasised. The use of this prop is to add tension to my sequence as it is shown on screen for a lengthy amount of time leaving the audience thinking what is going to happen next. It is also to represent how time is irrelevant in nightmares.
Doll/s: Both of these dolls, together, are featured within
my short film sequence because dolls are related to young children,
especially young girls, which is the main focus of my short
film sequence. Also, dolls can be seen as 'creepy' to some audiences,
especially with the use of editing, and as my film sequence is of the
horror genre, the use of dolls emphasises this.
Balloon: This balloon will used for approximately 7 seconds
throughout my short film sequence as it will be shown travelling down the stairs. The reason I have chosen this particular prop is because balloons are often associated with children and as the main focus of my short film sequene is a child in the form of a ghost, this prop emphasises this focus.

Doll's House: The use of a doll house will be featured a number of times throughout my film sequence because, like many other of my props, it is usually related to  young children, especially young girls. So again, this prop emphasises the focus of my short film sequence as well as emphasising the genre of my horror with the correct use of editing.

Slide: This prop will feature once within my short film sequence for approximately 5 seconds. It will be used to emphasise the child within my sequence as it is a very child related prop. So, this prop emphasises the focus of my entire film.
